So, you have decided to learn how to play tennis; however, you have no clue on where to start. You look at private tennis lesson prices, court time fees, and club membership fees, and your desire to play tennis slowly fades away. And you think to yourself, “Maybe next year…”.

Not so quickly! Nowadays, there are videos on how to do almost anything, and tennis is not an exception. With a few clicks, you can have access to free world-class tennis resources. Therefore, I have decided to share my top 10 list of educational tennis youtube channels with you! 

This is a list of 10 YouTube channels to learn tennis:

All these tennis channels have two things in common: Great coaches and excellent content. So, from the comfort of your home, and with the help of YouTube, you can take private tennis lessons from the best tennis experts and instructors.

Below, I’ll discuss more each channel and why I think you should check them out!  

1- Top Tennis Training

Who’s behind it?

ATP Pro Alex Slabinsky and Senior Performance coach Simon Konov. Together they have many years of experience in high-performance tennis. 

What’s unique?

They stand behind their name; they offer world class tennis lessons. In their videos, hey featured well know tennis players, like Tommy Robredo, David Nalbandian, David Ferrer, and Sam Groth, among other top tennis players.

Who’s behind it?

Ian Westermann – played for Ferris State University and has a degree in Professional Tennis Management. He has over 15 years as a tennis teaching professional. 

What’s unique?

Essential tennis offers high-quality instructional videos. They have great comprehensive digital courses, as well as, a teaching methodology of progression focused on improving players, one step at a time.

3- Coach Kyril (thetennisvault)

Who’s behind it?

Coach Kyril and coach Marcos. Both of them have a lot of experience in teaching tennis. They have different personalities that when combined create a fantastic synergy for the benefit of the viewer.

What’s unique?

Their unique approach, of using analogies to make their student understand the game, makes them an excellent option for your tennis journey. Also, they have a vast understanding of how the body works, and it’s capabilities and limitations from a tennis perspective.

Who’s behind it?

Tomas Mencinger, a Slovenian PTR certified tennis coach. Has experience coaching nationally ranked juniors and ITF level players. 

What’s unique?

Thomas unique experience with the off-court mental aspect of tennis brings an interesting approach to his on-court lessons. Besides, he’s very good at breaking down every shot in easy steps.

Who’s behind it?

Clay Ballard – an expert on sports biomechanics. He’s a golf teaching professional and an avid tennis player. His success in sports is credited to his ability to focus on body movements, rather than on instructions.

What’s unique?

Their unique focus on biomechanics help players speeds up their learning progress. Also, they break down the strokes, which helps you learn about specific movements and techniques that happened during each shot, which is hard to see at full speed.

What’s unique?

This channel offers instructions for players of all walks of life; recreational players, parents, coaches, juniors, or advanced college or pro players. Jeff’s professional tennis career gives him the necessary knowledge to help you improve your game.

What’s unique?

Will uses a classroom approach to his tennis lesson, which is useful when explaining different strategies on how to win points. This channel is focused on recreational and club players.

8- Be Gr8 at Tennis – Rob Cherry

Who’s behind it?

Rob Cherry – Irish high-performance tennis coach with over 20 years of experience. He has achieved the status of “ITF iCoach Expert.”

What’s unique?

This channel features academy styles lessons with entertaining and unique content. They focus on group drills, as well as, on using different tennis aids to improve your game.

9- The Previdi System

Who’s behind it?

Bill and Matt Previdi (father and son). Bill was the Head Pro at the Guilford Racket Club for over 25 years, while Matt has been the Head coach at La Jolla High and in 2011 was named “Coach of the Year” in San Diego. 

What’s unique?

This channel is all about doubles strategy. Many adult players participate mainly in doubles, so, it’s crucial to have a channel that specializes in doubles. The Previdi System’s goal is for players to develop a greater understanding of doubles.

Bill explains the importance of excelling at the first two shot to be successful in doubles. This is especially true when taking into consideration that the average doubles point last only 4 shots. 

10- Intosport – Tennis School

Who’s behind it?

Intosport and David Lloyd. Intosport is a leading publisher of tennis coaching videos in England. David Lloyd is a former professional English tennis player, who was captain of the British Davis Cup Team.

What’s unique?

It’s one of a few tennis channels that have a video series dedicated to how parents or teachers can teach tennis to their kids or students. It follows the red, orange, and green tennis format for children aged 10 and under.

Tennis Coaching for Kids: Basic Principles of Movement

In this video, they discuss the basic principles of movement and athletic skills: balance, agility, coordination, speed, and strength. 

Special mention

There are other youtube channels that I really like, however, given that I only had 10 spots, they didn’t make it to my list. Nevertheless, I still encourage you to check them out because they really have fantastic content, as well.

Thus, I don’t think there is one best Youtube channel to learn tennis, but, I see it as, there are many channels for you to choose from.
